Since Rome was not built in one day, you cannot visit it in one day either.
Depending on your time and interests, I can guide you around the city for a short or a long orientation and exploration tour. In a few hours, I can take you to the most iconic places and buildings such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona and its surroundings and give you a general artistic and historical background.
A full-day itinerary will allow you to discover most of the city’s main tourist attractions, but only from the outside. We can have a drink on a terrace, whenever you need a rest or to cool down during the hot summer days. After all, you are here on holiday and not at a military camp. Over a full day, in addition to the a.m. sites, we visit piazza del Campidoglio (Capitol Square) designed by Michelangelo, from where we have a great view of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum. Passing the theatre of Marcello, we reach the Tiber Island and cross the river via two ancient bridges. From there, we continue to the popular Trastevere district and along the bridge Ponte Sisto we reach Piazza Farnese and Campo di Fiori. Strolling through narrow streets, we come to the Sant’Angelo bridge and from the Castel Sant’Angelo it is just a short walk to the Vatican City with the magnificent St Peter’s Basilica.
If you decide to use my services for several days, I will suggest different tours depending on your interests, including visiting churches, monuments and museums. Admission to major attractions, such as the Vatican Museum including the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum including the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, the Borghese Gallery, must be booked days or weeks before your arrival to get in and reduce queues.
I am your man if you have already been to Rome and want to discover lesser-known but no less surprising places. A thematic tour, such as a Caravaggio or Bernini discovery walk, can also be an option. Day trips can be made to beautiful places outside Rome such as the garden & fountains of the Villa d’Este and the palace of Emperor Adrian (both in Tivoli), the impressive ruins of the roman Ostia or the “Castelli Romani”, the volcanic hills and lakes with rustic villages on the slopes.
Depending on where you are staying, I can pick you up at your hotel or else I will indicate a meeting point you can reach most easily from your hotel.
My prices range from a minimum of €90 for a basic tour of about 2-3 hours to a maximum of €190 for a full day.
